Real Home

Real Home
The term ’home’ used in the worldly sense has several meanings, for example, the building shell we make our home; we can also refer to our body as the home to the many organs within, heart, kidneys etc.
Here we are speaking in the spiritual context. Let me use an analogy to make the point.
Sitting in our AC installed home, we do not feel the impact of the heat outside, even 40 degrees Celsius outside doesn’t trouble us. That’s the physical aspect.
The inner being (mind, heart and soul) saturated with Gurbani, acts as a cavach (armour) against the onslaught (heat) of the pains and sufferings of life. Here our ‘AC facilitated home’ is the inner-being in the spiritual context, referred to as ‘nijj ghar’ and ‘thir ghar’ in Gurbani.

ਥਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਸਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

Remain steadfast & focused in the Home of your Quintessence Self.

Ghar is simply a home to something, tangible or abstract, eg, a library is a home to books (tangible or online), our body is home to our organs. Our ‘nijj ghar’ is the home of our quintessence self (spiritual home), where Waheguru resides.

ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਇਗੋ ਫੇਰਾ ॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 13}
Explore the treasures lying within and, through spiritual bliss, ecstasy and peace, you will link up with your quintessence self, where Waheguru (God) resides (Nijj Ghar). (SGGS 13).
