Excel in thought & deed
Many devotees shun works of poets who are not, necessarily, attached to their faith or brand of philosophy, A lot of sentimental beauty and reflection can we found in good  poetry.

We, often, submit ourselves to fate, find life impossible to carry on with. But, a famous Urdu poet, Allama Iqbal beautifully counters this fatalistic disposition in the shere below:

Khudi ko kar buland itna ke har taqdeer se pehlay Khuda banday sa Khud poochay bata teree raza kya hai (Allama Iqbal)

Excel yourself to such heights that, before every decree of destiny, God is prompted to ask you: “Tell me what is it that YOU desire?”
Fighting adversity is what life is all about. Believing in yourself, trust in your faith, your spiritual guide will always save the day.

Guru Tegh Bahadur, the Ninth Nanak, sums this up beautifully in the following Salokas.

My strength has left me, I am trapped in the web of Maya, for which there is no remedy.
Says Nanak, the Lord is my only support now; only He can help me, just as He rescued the helpless elephant (from the leopard).(53) SGGS 1429
This positive attitude (Charrdi Kala) is followed by inspirational  energy and attitude:

I have regained my strength and am free from bondage; everything is now within reach.
Nanak says, everything O Lord is in Your hands. you alone are my support and saviour. (54) SGGS 1429

God Bless All.
