Age Gracefully

As you age, your friends & confidants depart. The younger generation have their own problems. So choice, for sharing thoughts, concerns, emotions, becomes limited.
This give some folks more time to reflect and introspect, others go to Gurdwaras, join groups, associations of like-minded people.
But, what most people forget is, there’s SOMEONE who is always with them. The ONE who will never leave them – Gur mere sang sada hai naaley – your Satguru is always by your side – simar simar tis sadaa samaaley – but you must wake up from the slumber of ignorance and worldly comforts.
The body will weaken and waste with time and, one day,7 give up the fight. Even at this stage, if one doesn’t wake up to the limitations of the human shell and futility of worldly desires, then it’s simply a waste of the golden opportunity which the precious human form offers.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Ninth Nanak, very aptly says:
Your head is shaking uncontrollably, incessantly, your feet staggering and the eyes are losing sight.
Says Nanak, having reduced to this, you still do not yearn for the Lord’s sublime essence. (Salok 47) SGGS 1428
It’s never too late … equally a reminder to the writer …. let’s seek Guru Ji’s blessings not only for self but also for each other.
