ANAND SAHIB: Introduction
Anand Sahib is the divine treatise on how to rein in the mind, body, eyes, ears and spirit to connect with the higher plain of consciousness.
Without such guidance the soul just drifts into oblivion and wastes away this wonderful opportunity to do good.
Anand Sahib is part of the morning Nitnem of all devout Sikhs. The Bani is written and gifted to us by the Third Nanak, Guru Amar Das Ji. It comprises of forty stanzas. Six stanzas (the first five and the last) are chanted by the sangat at the conclusion of every Sikh ceremony. So this, perhaps, makes it the most recited Bani.
It is a practical treatise to attune the body, mind and soul to remain steadfast in the goal to connect with the Lord and abide by the Maker’s Will. Life, inevitably, has its ups and downs. True test of a true devotee is to remain steadfast in his/her path of divinity.
So, come all ye fellow travellers, join us in understanding the Psalm of Bliss (Anand Sahib), a gift bestowed upon us by Guru Amar Das Ji.
