Shut out the noise

Acute concentration on a task makes us oblivious to all the noises around us, it’s only when we are idle, or not engaged on anything in earnest, that we get distracted even by the slightest of sounds, for example, the ruffle of paper. Meditation on Naam requires concentration of a kind, that not only shuts out the din around us, but also the noise within, in our ever so chanchal (fickle) mind, and also suppress the countless desires nurturing in our worldly, vibrant, impatient hearts.

The social media, today, bears evidence to the fact that our focus gets diverted, frequently, by things that are neither relevant nor necessary in our lives. Lot of energy is expended in things we’ve no control over or are irrelevant to our mainstream style and requirements. At the end of the day it is a question of priorities, and how best to evaluate and balance them.

Human life is precious, it’s our opportunity to cut out the noise and focus on the real purpose we are here for, that is, to promote noble, humanitarian values like, love, kindness, goodwill and compassion.
